Community infrastructure for small groups of people who've decided to look out for each other.
Our society actively works against building community. It always has something more urgent to offer: something to buy, somewhere to be, a reason to stay separate.
Peb is a deliberate act in the other direction.
A co-op is a small group of people who look out for each other. Not an app for tracking favors. Just people who've decided to show up.
Everyone who joins starts with a handful of Pebs. They aren't money. They don't accumulate. They fade over time, which means they want to keep moving.
When someone helps you, you pass one along.
A way of saying: here's what I can offer right now, and here's where I could use a hand. No interview. No judgment. Just neighbors being honest with each other.
Big enough to help. Small enough that everyone notices when someone's struggling. Co-ops work best when everyone knows everyone.
A tool for small, trust-based groups. Share what you have. Ask for what you need. Pass care along when someone comes through for you.
A marketplace. A favor tracker. A platform trying to own your social life.
Someone in a co-op wants you in it. Get the app, then open your invite link to join.
All it takes is a few people you trust and something to share. Get the app and start one.
Peb is open source. The code is on GitHub. Not because it has to be, but because transparency matters when you're asking people to trust you with their community.
View on GitHubPeb will never have ads, never charge for use, and never sell your data. It's built and maintained as a passion project by one person who believes community infrastructure should be free.
If you're in a position to help cover the costs, that's appreciated. If you're not, you being here is enough.
Support on Ko-fiThe name Peb, and everything it means in this app, comes from Becky Chambers' Monk and Robot series. She imagined a world where people had rediscovered what it means to simply care for one another, and invented the peb as a way of passing that care along. This app is an attempt to build a small piece of that world in the one we actually live in. It would not exist without her.
